A Mississippi Surgeon, Home to Serve Mississippi

Dr. Katie W. Brown was born and raised in Mississippi, and her path to plastic surgery has stayed close to home at every step. She joins Plastic Surgery Associates of Mississippi with residency training in plastic surgery and an additional fellowship year focused on hand and upper-extremity care, giving patients in Jackson, Flowood, Forest, and McComb access to a surgeon trained in a full range of reconstructive and aesthetic procedures.

Why Choose Dr. Brown at Plastic Surgery Associates of Mississippi?

Dr. Brown joins a practice built on more than 25 years of shared surgical experience in the Jackson metropolitan area, delivered through a boutique, physician-led model. All the senior surgeons on the team are board certified, and Dr. Brown is actively pursuing board certification following the completion of her residency and fellowship training.

Here, we intentionally see fewer patients than in a large-group setting, allowing more time with each surgeon at every visit. With Dr. Brown's addition, our practice now offers even broader coverage across facial, breast, body, and hand procedures, all within a single, physician-led team. Our patients in Jackson and beyond gain access to her training alongside our practice's long-standing reputation for board-certified expertise and individualized care.

Education and Medical Training

Dr. Brown earned her undergraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Mississippi before attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center for medical school. She then completed an integrated plastic surgery residency, training across the full scope of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, from breast and body procedures to facial and hand surgery, building a broad technical foundation before pursuing additional subspecialty training.

Advanced Hand Surgery Fellowship

In her final year of residency, Dr. Brown was selected for a competitive embedded hand fellowship, a distinction held by only a limited number of trainees nationwide. This additional year of focused training deepened her expertise in complex hand and upper-extremity reconstruction and microsurgical techniques, preparing her to treat conditions ranging from nerve compression to congenital hand differences at our practice.

Research and Recognition

Throughout her training, Dr. Brown has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications spanning multiple areas of plastic surgery and presented her research at national and international conferences. She was recognized twice for achieving the fastest and most precise microsurgical anastomosis at a reconstructive surgery course, reflecting the technical precision she brings to every procedure.

Practice Focus and Approach

Dr. Brown practices the full range of plastic surgery, including facial, breast, and body aesthetic and reconstructive procedures, along with hand surgery. Her approach centers on precision, safety, and treatment plans tailored to each patient's anatomy and goals, shaped by her training across nearly every subspecialty in the field.

Life Outside the Operating Room

Dr. Brown is married to Turner Brown, an orthopedic surgeon, and the couple is proud parents to two sons, James and Henry. She and her family are active members of First Presbyterian Church and value the time they spend together outside of medicine.

Her connection to Mississippi runs deep, and her decision to build her career here reflects a commitment to serving the community that shaped her long before she became a surgeon. With Dr. Brown, your care is tailored to your needs, with genuine attentiveness to the person behind the consultation.
